Core Collection

This constitutes the pre-1948 collection of the Great Library (Nagykönyvtár) of the Bethlen College in Aiud. It can currently be searched using the card catalogue available on site. Of the pre-1849 collection, only around 500 volumes have survived. The present-day collection was thus built up between 1850 and 1948 through donations and purchases. Its composition is mixed, covering all fields of scholarship, and it served the purposes of specialized education at the college.

Theological Library

Reformed theological education took place in Aiud until 1895. Following a lengthy debate, the Cluj Reformed Theological Academy was opened in Cluj in September 1895, becoming the center for the training of Reformed ministers. The specialized library remained in Aiud and can be researched using the card catalogue available on site.
